The average income for residents within a 1-mile radius of the Galleria Development is $100,000. Many residents in Southern Madison County have college degrees, and over 50 percent of the residents are in professional or managerial occupations. Given the affluence of the county, retail sales within the area are very strong, and are projected to exceed $1 Billion by 2010. The Nissan North America Canton Plant has had a major impact on Madison County, and much of the growth in the area can be attributed to the $1 Billion plant’s presence in the community. The plant began operations in 2003, and employs approximately 5300 people. The presence of the plant has contributed to the growth of Southern Madison County, and the plant’s presence in the community has led to the development of several ancillary industries as well as retail development, restaurants and many other businesses.
